I found this Time piece (har har) comparing family food budgets from around the world unendingly interesting. Not only is it strange and eye-opening to see the mountain of food that is one week of supply, the range of costs is, not surprisingly, very large. While one African family of six people came in at under $2, a German family of four maxed out at $500.
